Copyright and designs

Hello all my crafty friends!

I know that Youtube, pinterest and the internet in general can be a really confusing place when it comes to artistic license and copyrights.

I could go into a huge long explanation, but it really is simple.

When I design something the design itself belongs to me.  If I  share it, alter it or publish it, it still is my design.  Basically that means that nobody else has the legal right to sell my design in any form.

Considering that I generally am making books, what the heck is she talking about right?

Mini albums.....I cannot copyright the actual mini album concept....no one can.  Junk journals cannot be copyrighted.  Mixed media and so on.  When I make a mini album and decide what size the page is to be, what attachments and how it folds or unfolds....that is my design.

However, when I share a design with you....that design still belongs to me and cannot be sold, shared or other wise put out into the retail market without my consent.

Can you make books for sale?  sure...just not my designs.  Can you use techniques I have taught you?  Of course....just make sure it is in your own design and not mine.

So why are we talking about this again? 

It has come to my attention that some of my designs are being reproduced for sale. This is wrong on so many levels.

I don't do what I do to get rich.....LOL!  I do what I do because I like to share my  love of the design process.  I don't give a workshop/class so that you can learn how to build it and then copy it for sale.

Please respect my artistic copyrights and my business and just don't do it.

New Studio Group

Hello all my crafty friends!

I have been asked to get together another group  to meet in my studio. ( I live south of Deer Park....one left turn off 395)  This would be a very beginner group, really starting with the basics of building with paper.

The advantage of the studio group is really more time to put things together.  You won't be rushed to finish something in just a couple of hours.

We would get together every other Wednesday...10-2 ishness....depending on the project. 

How much you ask?  That really depends....fees are based on project not the amount of time it takes.  So if a class is $20....and it takes 3 different class days to finish...the cost is $20.....again project based.

My studio groups do a lot of different types of projects....things that really are not so practical to teach at Hobby Lobby.

I need to have at least 4 to make this work....and the more the merrier.

If you are interested and have a friend that is interested....great....just let me know!

I have a couple of gals who are just waiting for this to work!

Mason Jar Book

Hello all my crafty friends!

I am so sorry that this is late getting up on the blog......life is just getting in my way.  I'm still trying to figure out this new "work" thing and how to make it fit into my life.  I actually have to leave the house now!!!  UGH!!!  even if it is a good thing, I'm still trying to adjust.

I had a custom die made for this project....it's totally cool!  I have limited seats available for this class.....so first shouts get you a spot.
